Affordable & Supportive Housing

There’s no one-size-fits-all solution to homelessness, because each individual experiencing it has unique circumstances. That’s why The Doe Fund has grown far beyond just Ready, Willing & Able to become a full continuum of care, with multiple solutions that meet the needs of this population where they are.

Since 1996, The Doe Fund has developed high-quality permanent housing to address New York City’s notorious housing crisis, one of the leading causes of homelessness. Our portfolio of affordable units is a lifeline for low income workers at risk of housing insecurity, while our supportive units serve individuals with severe health conditions that prevent them from working — including physical disabilities and serious mental illnesses.

On-site services within our transitional and supportive residences include case management, workforce development, computer skills courses, financial literacy courses, adult basic education, addiction recovery based on harm reduction methodologies, pro-bono legal services, linkages to off-site healthcare, and recreational/community-building activities. In addition to our own buildings, we also rent 84 supportive units through our Scatter Site program, which are not included in the totals below.

In 2019, The Doe Fund was included in Affordable Housing Finance‘s Top 50 Affordable Housing Developers.
