Jeff Garlin Donates Wardrobe Valued at $30,000 to The Doe Fund
Los Angeles, CA— After hearing that the late Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek donated his wardrobe to help people who have experienced homelessness and incarceration attain employment, Jeff Garlin was inspired to follow suit… literally.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Goldbergs star recently donated much-needed professional attire to The Doe Fund, a nonprofit that provides paid work, housing, vocational training, and comprehensive social services to Americans with histories of addiction, homelessness, and incarceration.
“I donated to The Doe Fund because the idea that my suits from Curb Your Enthusiasm can provide dignity and employment opportunities to these men brings me great joy,” said Garlin.
The donation, valued at over $30,000, includes 25 dress shirts, eight leather belts, 67 silk ties, 15 suit jackets, one dress vest, one pair of suspenders, and two pairs of dress shoes. The clothes will be distributed to participants in The Doe Fund’s Ready, Willing & Able reentry program for use in job interviews and upon securing employment through the organization’s workforce development and job placement services. For the men in Ready, Willing & Able, access to professional clothing could permanently change the course of their lives.
“We are so touched by this incredible gift from Mr. Garlin,” said Harriet McDonald, President of The Doe Fund. Jeff saw the good deed of the Trebek family and took action without any solicitation.”
She continued, “This has been an extraordinarily challenging time. In addition to COVID-19 disproportionately affecting the populations we serve and the industries in which they most easily find employment, my husband and The Doe Fund’s Founder and President of 35 years passed away earlier this year. The outpouring of generosity from supporters like Mr. Garlin and Alex Trebek honors his legacy and has been a vital lifeline to the men in our programs.”
