The Doe Fund Hosts Holiday Toy Giveaway
On Sunday, December 20th, Santa Claus and his Elves made an early stop for the families living at Webster Green, The Doe Fund’s award-winning affordable and supportive housing residence!
Our 3rd Annual Winter Toy Giveaway was organized in partnership with Forever Sincear, Inc. During the event, Santa greeted and delivered presents to children who live in the residence, aided by his Elves. Each child also received a bag of cookies and hot chocolate.
All attendees wore masks and practice social distancing in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.
Forever Sincear, Inc. is a nonprofit created in the memory of Sincear Williams, an aspiring youth leader from the Bronx who was murdered at 16 years old. The organization organizes peer-led support groups for families who have lost their children to gun violence, in addition to providing grief coaching and support for victims during court dates and trials.
“Sincear believed that no one was beyond the point of living a better life,” said Michelle Lemons, Co-Founder of Forever Sincear, Inc. and a Program Director at The Doe Fund. “Every year during the Holidays, he would tell his mother that ‘every child deserves to have a gift for Christmas.’ He also said that when he grew up, he wanted to help the youth in his community. We’re proud to honor Sincear by making both of these wishes a reality.”
Designed by Magnusson Architecture and Planning, PC to achieve LEED Gold status in sustainability, Webster Green’s state-of-the-art features include ground floor offices for on-site supportive services, community spaces for hosting classes and events, lounges overlooking the Bronx Botanical Gardens, a laundry room, and a spacious lobby. Recipient of the Queens and Bronx Building Association’s 2019 Building Award and the 2020 Best in American Living Award, Webster Green offers a groundbreaking new vision that challenges preconceived notions of what affordable and supportive housing can be.
