Join The Doe Fund on our mission to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and criminal recidivism by providing holistic services, housing and work opportunities to the under-served populations including the formerly homeless and incarcerated, disconnected youth, veterans, and people living with AIDS. Our flagship transitional work program– Ready, Willing & Able– integrates paid work, occupational training, and holistic supportive services to facilitate an individual’s return to mainstream society.

We’re looking for a creative, experienced PR and Events Manager to expand awareness of the organization and its innovative solutions. The person in this role will report to the Vice President of Communication.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, or related field
  • Proven background in PR, marketing, event managing and communications
  • Exceptional written and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Google Suite, including Ads and Analytics
  • Familiarity with media monitoring and press engagement services such as Meltwater, Agility PR, Critical Mention, Muck Rack or comparable service
  • Experience writing press releases, media advisories, pitches, letters to the editor and opinion pieces
  • Experience building and managing relationships with press and public figures
  • Experience coaching individuals in effective public speaking for events
  • Strong customer service, time management, and creative thinking skills. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing needs, maintain deadlines and effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Comfort with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Basic photography and video editing skills a plus
  • A commitment to social, racial and economic justice, criminal justice reform, anti-poverty initiatives, affordable housing, and ending homelessness

Key Responsibilities:

  • PRESS RELATIONS
    • Increase the organization’s brand awareness, secure coverage, and grow media exposure through extensive, targeted press outreach with both traditional outlets and new media.
    • Serve as an organizational liaison with individual journalists and TV anchors, newsrooms, and other partners for external-facing announcements and events.
    • Write and disseminate press releases, media advisories, and op-eds for publication.
  • EVENTS
    • Under the guidance of the Vice President of Communications, assist with planning, coordinating and executing logistics for internal, off-site, and virtual events.
    • Create proposals and timelines for event collateral, including but not limited to invitation production, social media campaigns, and other mail/online outreach.
    • Manage the creation and dissemination of invitations.
    • Work closely with internal stakeholders as well as external vendors to support event logistics and objectives.
    • Supervise relationships with select contractors and agencies, including graphic designers, video production companies, media buyers, photographers, and print shops.
  • PRINT AND DIGITAL MARKETING
    • In concert with the Vice President of Communications and Digital Marketing Manager, develop and implement strategies to increase the organization’s brand visibility, including by conceptualizing and implementing the annual Communications strategy; leveraging corporate partnerships; and ideating and scripting events.
    • Develop systems to track, analyze, and report on growth metrics.

The salary range for this position is $65k – $70k.
