Our flagship transitional work program– Ready, Willing & Able– integrates paid work, occupational training, and holistic supportive services to facilitate an individual’s return to mainstream society.

The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $65 million and a full-time staff of 400+.

We are seeking a Part Time Residence Manager for the Crotona Park residence which is The Doe Fund’s newest permanent supportive housing program for men and women. The population will be a mix of seniors, formerly homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS, individuals diagnosed with a mental illness, and/or substance abuse. The program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four-hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents’ independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. The majority of Crotona Park residents will be referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) and some by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).

The Part Time Residence Manager is responsible for the supervision of the residents and the overall operation of the facility during designated shifts. S/he will work collaboratively with the Clinical team and the Program Director to ensure that resident needs are being met as well as the safety of the facility. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills along with an understanding of working with the HIV/AIDS population, including seniors.

The shift we are looking to cover is: Saturday and Sunday 9 am – 9 pm.  

The Ideal Candidate:

  • You have a High School diploma or GED, some college preferred
  • You have a Fire Safety certification (required) (F-02 or F-80)
  • You have at least two years of experience working in social service, residential setting
  • The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, mental illness, and homelessness
  • You have the ability to work independently
  • You have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • You have proficient computer skills – internet  and Microsoft Office

Key Responsibilities:

  • Function as a liaison between the residents and the staff
  • Collaborate with the security staff during his/her tour of duty to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents
  • Manage any challenging situations and crises that may occur at the facility
  • Responsible for handling any incidents that may occur at the facility and completing an Incident Report form, as needed
  • Communicate noteworthy events to the Program Director and the Clinical team as well as document them in the appropriate logbook
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings
  • Ensure all aspects of the Fire Alarm System (FAS) are working properly and are up to code with FDN
  • Visually inspect and document all components of the FAS
  • Conduct and document quarterly fire drills
  • Other duties as assigned
