Antwoin, aka Chef Fresh

I’m a baker and executive pastry chef. I’m an entrepreneur, a hustler, a father and business owner. I’m a job creator. And I am a PROUD graduate of Ready, Willing & Able!

Since launching Fresh Taste Bakery in 2016, Antwoin “Chef Fresh” Gutierrez has become one of New York City’s hottest bakers. He’s made pastries and cupcakes for DJ Khaled, “America’s Next Top Model” winner Eva Marcille, the Seinfelds, and the cast of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” among many other celebrities.

Antwoin came to The Doe Fund after years of selling drugs and incarceration. There, he met Gino Dalesandro, our Director of Food Services and a driving force behind Dishes by Doe and our Culinary Arts programs. Through Gino’s mentorship and our career training tracks, Antwoin discovered his true passion. “Chef Fresh” was born the day he graduated Ready, Willing & Able.

“A beautiful kitchen. A wonderful mentor. And 400 men who were counting on me, every single day to provide them with greatness after every dinner,” Chef Fresh recalled at our 2019 gala.

“It was Gino who planted the seed. The Doe Fund gave me the opportunity. And pretty soon, they couldn’t drag me out of that kitchen. The rest, as they say, is history.”
