The Doe Fund Opens 98 Units of Bronx Affordable Housing
The Doe Fund celebrated opening its newest affordable and supportive housing residence, 4519 White Plains Road, in the Wakefield neighborhood of the Bronx. The Plains, as the residence is known, is the eleventh permanent residence in The Doe Fund’s growing portfolio.
The nine-story building includes 98 affordable homes for low- and moderate-income individuals and families. The Doe Fund provides on-site supportive services, including clinical case management, mental healthcare, therapeutic groups, and referrals to medical care, to 49 units reserved for individuals with histories of chronic homelessness and sever health conditions. Another 20 units are reserved for seniors.
Speakers at the ribbon cutting included The Doe Fund President & CEO Jennifer Mitchell, The Doe Fund EVP of Real Estate John McDonald, Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, New York State Assembly Member Jamaal Bailey, New York State Assembly Member Jeffrey Dinowitz, New York State Office of Homes & Community Renewal Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas, and Merchants Capital SVP of Originations Michael Milazzo. Tenants also joined the ribbon cutting and received Thanksgiving meals donated via NY Common Pantry.

Residential amenities include tenant storage, offices for program staff and a multi-purpose room for program and tenant uses alike, as well as 24/7 security and a live-in superintendent. The residence will also feature on-site laundry units, a fitness center and private outdoor recreation space. The Plains is near subway, bus and commuter rail stations.
