During their first month, Ready, Willing & Able participants are assigned a Case Manager to evaluate individual needs and barriers to achieving outside employment and housing. Educational testing, addiction history, legal status, wants and warrants, debt (including child support), work history, and family relationships are all assessed at this time.
Case Managers also meet with family members and loved ones, communicate with parole officers, and open court cases on the participant's behalf to ensure that any barriers to success are dealt with during the course of the program. In addition, Case Managers assess barriers for a father reuniting with his children, reuniting a family when appropriate. Based on all of this information, an individualized service plan is developed with links to appropriate physical and mental health services and enrollment in the program's evening high school equivalency classes and substance abuse treatment services. Both Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held in facilities. Supervisors and Case Managers complete bi-weekly reports, tracking the progress of each participant's personal and work performance.
