People leave the Ready, Willing & Able program with new leases on life. Ideally, their names and signatures are on those leases. We encourage all graduates to live on their own for awhile, to get used to paying their own rent and bills and to avoid the danger of dispossession should a relationship fall apart. For many, the apartments they move into are the first homes of their own they've ever had.
Affordable housing is hard to find in New York City, especially if you earn entry-level wages, as many of our graduates do. That's why we are glad to be able to offer some an apartment in the Peter Jay Sharp Residence.
But not half as glad as they are . . .
