As part of its mission to prepare trainees to enter a modern workforce, The Doe Fund provides a comprehensive Computer Skills Training Program (CSTP) at every Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) facility.
Trainees are encouraged to pursue the voluntary, skill-intensive classes, which take place in The Doe Fund's modern computer labs over a period of four months. RWA participants are trained in basic to intermediate skills in:
- The Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel);
- E-mail software; and
- Internet browsing and searching.
All instruction modules are designed to help trainees compete in today's technology-driven workplace. In addition to these concrete benefits, those who complete the course receive a Certificate of Completion at a group dinner celebrating their accomplishment -- this certificate is accompanied by a newfound feeling of self-confidence and pride. In addition, trainees who excel beyond the basic skill set are presented with a Certificate of Achievement and often continue their progress as proctors and teaching assistants in The Doe Fund's computer labs.
