RWA Restaurant Review

I'd like to say that it is always a beautiful day for one to come down to the Gates Avenue Ready, Willing & Able facility and enjoy the exquisite cooking of Mr. Anthony Cruz, Mr. Robert Lugo and their exclusive team of chefs.

Their recipes are excellent. They offer a variety of exotic dishes, like "Arroz con Habichuelas," which is a Hispanic dish and one that I love very much. Yum. They also have collard greens, along with delicious corn bread.

And let's not forget the pasta -- spaghetti, sausages and meatballs. What's more, their "Pan con Ajo," meaning toasted bread with garlic, is quite tasty, especially when accompanied by a refreshing tropical juice.

There's no question that the field of Culinary Arts is a prestigious field. Why? Because everybody loves to eat! Whether it be chocolates, steak or lobster, Mr. Cruz does an excellent job as RWA's chief chef and instructor in the field of Culinary Arts. He has a class in which he teaches men and women in the program to become self-reliant and proficient in the Culinary Arts profession.

Here at The Doe Fund, trainees have the opportunity to rebuild their lives by acquiring skills that will help them be competitors in the work force. The program offers more than an opportunity to have a delicious plate of food. It is about securing a future and being able to become a productive member of our society.

Every person has an inborn sense of dignity and self-pride. However, not everyone is born with a silver spoon in his or her mouth. For some, life has been a hellish nightmare, full of painful past experiences and a struggle for resiliency. In some form or fashion, drugs have played a major role in the stagnation of many men and women who have been left homeless.

Today, I can say that I am highly grateful for what The Doe Fund has done for me. I have accomplished many of my short-term goals and look forward to reaching my long-term goals. I have a lot of gratitude and want to extend my appreciation to all those people who played a part in helping me to get where I am today.

RWA's personnel are outstanding and, in my personal opinion, this is one of the best programs in the nation. Please feel free to come and dine with us -- and please be grateful for being alive today. We all have a purpose in this life. We just have to find it.
