Together, we can restore our communities. Because together, we are New York.

From Staten Island and the Rockaways to Coney Island and Hudson River Park, the "men in blue" are helping to clean up our neighborhoods in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

As a supporter of the “men in blue,” your commitment has allowed us to accomplish so much in the aftermath of this tragedy. And just as you have been there for the homeless and formerly incarcerated men of Ready, Willing & Able, the “men in blue” are here for all of New York and our neighbors.

The “men in blue” and The Doe Fund in action

Twenty "men in blue," along with two supervisors, are assisting with relief efforts in Staten Island seven days a week.

The Doe Fund’s Harlem Center for Opportunity took in 67 evacuees from the Bellevue Men's Shelter, as well as provided emergency housing for two supportive housing residents from Bailey House.

Staff set up an emergency office, complete with computers, desks, and supplies, for 10 Department of Homeless Services employees at the Peter Jay Sharp Residence.

The day after Hurricane Sandy, 90% of the Ready, Willing & Able crews went out to their assignments, including Brooklyn Bridge Park, Hudson River Park, and the Upper East Side. By Wednesday, Ready, Willing & Able operations were back at 100%.

Beginning on Monday, November 5th, 13 “men in blue” and a full-time supervisor began work in Coney Island. Operating seven days a week, the “men in blue” will assist with clean-up efforts, as well as provide cleaning supplies, buckets, brooms, and Ready, Willing & Able trash bags for volunteers to use.

We partnered with a crew of Food Network chefs and New York City restaurateurs to pick up and deliver food and water to locations in Breezy Point, Queens. The effort was led by Doe Fund Ambassador Madison Cowan, who enlisted the help of Amanda Freitag, Anne Burrell, Claire Robinson, Johnny Iuzzini, Marc Anthony Bynum, and Bradley Thompson.
