While many New Yorkers recognize the blue uniforms that Ready, Willing & Able trainees wear while working to clean more than 160 miles of New York City streets in our Community Improvement Project, a less visible component of RWA is the Career Development taking place at our three New York City facilities. "Pushing the bucket" in CIP is the first step that our trainees take toward self-sufficiency, but permanent employment, independent living, and long-lasting sobriety are their ultimate goals.

With the help of volunteers, The Doe Fund helps conducts Mock Interview Nights that serve as "dress rehearsals" for the actual interviews trainees will experience on their search for full-time employment. We coach each individual trainee on how to present himself in an interview, dress professionally, and answer often difficult questions about work history.

After conducting the mock interviews, volunteers and trainees share dinner and refreshments prepared from scratch by our Culinary Arts Program. The evening is an incredibly rewarding and useful experience for both the trainee and the volunteer.

Mock Interview Nights take place on a rotating basis at each of our facilities, and in most cases, transportation to and from the facility can be arranged.
