While many New Yorkers recognize the blue uniforms that
Ready, Willing & Able trainees wear while working to clean more than 160 miles of New York City streets in our
Community Improvement Project, a less visible component of
RWA is the Career Development taking place at our three New York City facilities. "Pushing the bucket" in
CIP is the first step that our trainees take toward self-sufficiency, but permanent employment, independent living, and long-lasting sobriety are their ultimate goals.
The Doe Fund works with corporate partners to help our trainees build confidence for a major milestone—in many cases—their first permanent job. Our Mock Interview Nights are "dress rehearsals" for the actual interviews trainees will experience as they search for full-time employment. These nights are not only inspiring, they are fun. After conducting the mock interviews, volunteers share dinner and refreshments with our trainees, offering more informal interaction.
